Design Guide

Here is a design system for my website.
This is the background I designed for my website.

For my website I wanted to design a logo that was more simple but still conveyed the purpose of the website, so I created a simple 2D clock and placed the title that I chose of “Design throughout time” which I chose as it stays relevant to the purpose of the website, which is to show how design has changed throughout time. I designed the icons that I use to display the time periods in the same way to create a sense of familiarity and not make the website looking random with lots of different shapes and icons, to keep a clean and tidy look. The text within the logo I changed the fonts to show the different fonts that have been used in the different types of designs.

For the fonts of my website I decided to use both a serif and sans-serif font to again show how the typography has changed over the years and also how it differs from one style of design to another. I created a simple background using a couple of 2D clocks to create a bit of decoration within the site whilst also keeping relevant to the topic of the site.

For the layout of the website when scrolling the found images of the specific design styles will always be on the left hand side and my modernised recreations will be on the right and will be separated by the icons i designed that will be placed between in the middle along with the headline stating the name of that specific style and also some text explaining the style and how i have created a modern day web style page in that said style. However, in the mobile companion the images will be placed stacked in one row due to the slimmer screen, the found image will be at the top and my recreation at the bottom with the icon, headline and text in between separating the two again, examples can be found below.

Here is an example of how the website will look on desktop.
Here is how the website would look on a phone.
