With my two personal logo designed I wanted to use two completely unrelated items/ concepts and combine the two together to give them completely different meaning. For this logo I wanted to combine two big things that have been apart and shaped my life, so my idea was to use what looks like is a heart/ pulse monitor. This was done as when you see one of those you think of a hospital, which hospitals have been a big part of my life as its where I’ve had countless operations and surgeries on my eyes and will continue to be a part of my life for the future to come. The other thing been a football, as football has been a part of my life since I can remember and will also be a part of my life until I can remember I’m sure. The two combined however create a completely different meaning, I placed the football within the heart to create/ send the message the football is a big part of my life and whilst my heart is still beating I will continue to love the sport of football. The logo can have many different meanings such as football is a part of my DNA or anyone else’s that may choose to use the logo, or you it can show how a person bleeds for football and represent their wounds are from playing football. One final example of what the logo could represent is how people who love the sport may live and die for the sport due to their strong love for the sport.I titled the logo “football is life” to further reinforce the message that the logo is sending and used a bold serif font so that it is clear and easy to read and placed it along the pulse reading so that it doesn’t look as though it has just been randomly placed in the middle of the logo somewhere. To create this piece I used a combination of the pen tool to create the straight lines of the pulse reading and then the pencil tool to create the curves of the heart and used one tone of read to keep the logo basic to create a basic looking logo however with a deep meaning.
With this logo I wanted to again include two big things that are a part of my life and to combine them again to give a completely different meaning. To start with my idea was to fit the design inside of a football, this is to represent again the big part of my life football has been and shows my interest and love for the sport. The other been a pencil that I placed inside the ball, which was done to represent my interest and abilities in art/ graphic design and how I have spent a big chunk of my life growing and evolving my capabilities. These two ideas combined create their own unique meaning, the logo shows how playing football you can create your own art, how you can express yourself on the pitch creating unique moments of magic when you play. It could also represent the people in the stand watching as each game of football is different, so this logo was made to show the different variations of the art the players created that day. To create this piece I started by drawing out the football, using the shape tool for the perfect round shape and then the pencil tool to create the pattern on the inside of the ball and then decreased the opacity of the black patches within the ball so that it didn’t cover up the pencil as it would have made it slightly harder to make out what is is inside of the ball. I then drew out a basic pencil shaped and shaped it to fit around the ball and stretched it around to make it look as though it is the actual print of the ball, I then filled it with colour using a few different shades to give it more depth and so it had a bit more character and not just a flat image. I added a title onto the top of the logo using a bold serif font to keep it clean and easy to read and wrapped it around the logo using the type on path tool. I added the title to again further reinforce the message the logo is sending.
