Psychometric Testing

A psychometric test are used by people such as an employer for a number of reasons, this type of test can help an employer learn about a candidates personality and their cognitive ability showing the employer how a certain candidate may handle certain situations and also give them an idea of their motivations. This type of test can be effective as it allows a company or employer to test a lot of applicants without having the actually interview them and see how they would fit into their company if at all.

Above is the psychometric test I took that was made in order to see how I would fit into the orchestra performing “The Good The Bad and The Ugly” theme. With this test I tried my best to place myself somewhere within the orchestra even though it is something that I would never participate in or see myself doing so in the future, I placed myself in the wood slapper position as I felt that was the role that had the least involvement in and is also the role that doesn’t include any form of singing or talking. The results I gave would give an employer for example the idea that I am someone with a quieter personality or lack the confidence to be put on a big stage in the spotlight, which I would agree with.

The Hungry Caterpillar Flip-book Animation

For the flip book animation I decided to do a little research into the Hungry Caterpillar as that was what the animation is based on, I originally started by searching online the stages of the hungry caterpillar to see if there was an image that showed the caterpillar in the different stages of its movement, however I struggled to find one. My idea was to then watch a clip on YouTube which is shown above and screenshotted a few stages of the caterpillars movement to give me an idea of how to draw it out in my flip-book, watching the video also gave me a clearer idea of the motion of the caterpillar and the separate stages in movement and also how it eats through something which was helpful as that is something that had to be included within my flip-book too. Doing this research also allowed me to draw each part of the caterpillar as accurately as I could such as the face, parts of its body, legs and so on.

When it came to drawing out the flip-book animation I decided to have the caterpillar walking into the page/ paper rather than having it start in the middle of the page as I thought it help create a smoother animation and didn’t look as though it had started in a random position when first flicking through. I also decided to have the caterpillar eat through an apple that eventually comes into frame as an apple is something I noticed features quite a lot in the original animations and some thumbnails for the videos. The animation finishes with the caterpillar walking off the page to keep the smooth looking animation rather than just ending it in the middle of the page.

Once I had finished my flip-book I downloaded an app on my phone that scanned each page and created a smoother animation as it meant I didn’t have to record a video with my hands flipping through allowing for a clearer view.
