Stop Motion Teamworking

For this team working exercise the teams were chosen at random and I was placed in a team with Ashleigh and Lewis. The aim was to create a stop motion short animation with a selection of random objects that we were given. The objects that we were given for the animation was a wooden doll/ person and two wooden hands.

Here are the objects we were given for the animation.

Once we were given our objects and seen what we would be working with we all shared our ideas of what we should do for the animation and as we had roughly the same idea we decided to do a football themed animation using the person as a football player that would be striking a ball and the two wooden hands were to be used to act as the hands of a goalkeeper in goal. For the ball we used some blue tack and rolled it into a ball.

Here are images of us mid- way through drawing/ planning out our sections of the animation.

Once we had decided what the animation would be based on we divided the animation into three separate parts- the beginning, middle and end, my part of the animation was the beginning, Ashleigh’s part was the middle section and Lewis’ part was the ending.

We planned out our sections of the animation by drawing out quick illustrations and the few stages of our sections of the animation to give an idea of how the animation will plan out and how we will position and move the objects in our sections during the animation. My idea for my section of the animation was to have to person striking the football/ taking the shot at the hands, Ashleigh’s idea was to show the flight of the ball and the movement it makes towards the hands and the movement of the hands as it reaches them and Lewis’ idea was to show the reaction of the person once they have seen that they have missed the shot. Ashleigh had the idea to use blue tack to create faces for the person to help show the expression and emotion they were feeling at certain stages of the animation too.

Here is the final outcome for our animation.

When it came to creating the actual stop motion animation we decided to grab a green screen and place it on the floor to make it look as though the person is actually standing on a football pitch to further show what the animation is about. When taking photos and moving the objects around when making the animation we all did our own sections moving the images around and took it in turns so that it wasn’t just one person doing all the work or some doing more than others, we did this so that it was fair and to make it a true team effort.

Once we had finished the animation we created a group chat in Microsoft Teams and added the animation into the chat for us all and to make sure we all correctly downloaded it we each sent a message to confirm that it had saved properly.
