When it came to thinking about how my animation would play out I began thinking of ideas and started off by creating some rough and quick storyboards planning out how my animation would go. My first initial idea was to have an animation that had a number of products in it and show them off throughout the animation. The idea was to have a number of flavours of the canned energy drink and then I thought of including few extra products such as a bottled version of the energy drink and also a coffee cup product and then having the animation act as a showcase showing off each item. However, I decided against this idea as I felt it would be a bit of a basic animation and repetitive as it would just have the products dropping down and spinning. Once I had decided to not go with the first animation I created another quick rough storyboard and tried to think of how I could make my animation unique and tried to think of something to include within it and not create the feeling of repetition again. My idea was to have the packaging that would be used for the cans if they were sold as a multipack. Also for the second animation I decided to include the logo in the beginning of the animation to introduce the viewer to the brand so that the animation doesn’t seem as though it just randomly starts.
Once I had a stronger idea of what I wanted my animation to be I took my rough storyboard and created a clearer and more detailed storyboard within Illustrator. I designed a background that I would also use within my animation so that the storyboard looks as accurate to give myself a clearer view of how each stage of the animation would look with everything placed together. The aim of this animation was to showcase both the 4 pack box that I designed and then also the canned energy drink, in the final animation the boxes and cans will match each part of the background as I have coloured the background to fit the flavours of each box and can. As I have explained under each stage the animation will have the box open up and have the cans come out of them, this animation is better than the first idea I had as rather than having a bunch of products which could be quite overwhelming and confusing to look at I have decided to choose one product and expanded on it and made the animation focus purely on the one product been the canned energy drink. My aim for the animation was for it to look a bit like an advertisement for the energy drink which is why I added the introduction at the beginning also and to create a showcase of the can and the boxes the would come in if they were to be sold as a multipack or 4 pack.
