Four to Six Traditional or Online Editorial Information Pages

Here can be found my master compositional grids as well as my four information pages.

Here I created three compositional grids, I created one using basic square and rectangular shapes whether the boxes be filled with text or image, I placed them in the position so that outside of them could fit either text or an image so either way should work. The second I created a more simple/ blank page so that I could be free and try something different on one of my information pages. The third I wanted to create a grid that was my representational to my subject (football) so I used hexagonal shapes in a circle to make them look like a ball I used hexagons as typically a football is made of these shapes, whilst also leaving a gap between each of the hexagons to represent a goal net as this is typically the shapes they are made from too.

With this information page I decided to create it in a simple black and white tone and titled it “the rise of the youth” with a sub header “opportunity to grow” I decided to use an image of my little brother and also an image of a football stadium I go to regularly on the right. I placed the image of my brother on the left under to title to show he is the youth and the image of the stadium on the right above the sub header to show the page is about youth and how they can grow into the sport and eventually be playing on that field/ pitch. The purpose of this sheet was to show the benefits football can have for the younger generation, give them dreams and/ or a purpose and something to look up to.

This sheet I titled “Football: Grassroots” with the sub header of “community” as grassroots football is football that is played in your region/ community I added an image of grass in the background that I took and also a picture I took from the stadium of my local football team. I placed a black box beneath the writing and covered the background of the right side to keep the writing easy to read and keep it in accordance to my typographical standard sheets. However I slightly decreased the opacity on the left so that the image could still be slightly seen. The purpose of this sheet was to explain the role football can offer in bringing the community together and creating a bond.

This sheet was created using the blank compositional grid sheet, I experimented a bit by adding a photo of I ball I took and wrapping the text around the ball, and adding a shape on the right and using the gradient tool and repeated the colours on the ball to fill some of the blank space on the sheet. This was a sheet for all news related to football transfers and rumours.

With this sheet I based it off the compositional grid with the hexagonal shapes. I added an image I took of myself kicking a ball, and using clipping mask removed the ball, so that it looked as though as I was kicking the hexagonal shapes as I shaped them in a circular fashion so that they look like a ball. I did this so that it creates a link to the title of this sheet “Kick Discrimination Out of Football” showing how the foot is trying to actually kick it away. This was a page that would discuss some of the negative subjects that have happened in football recently such as racism, discrimination and more and how we need to get rid of it not only from the sport but the world as a whole. I also filled the hexagons with the information for the page and the background image is the photo again of the local stadium I go to but zoomed in a lot more to capture just the pitch.

All the sheets were designed in relation to my typographical standards sheets using the primary typefaces I discussed for the titles of the pages and the secondary typefaces for the paragraphing.
